The story of Savonnerie Fer a Cheval (which translates to the Horse Shoe in French) started in 1856 in Marseille, a city located in the south of France. It is the oldest soap factory crafting these famous Marseille soaps using the original recipe comprising only of plant oils with no added fragrances, preservatives or animal by-products.

 

Fer a Cheval has been awarded with the Authenticity of Savon de Marseille title which recognises their efforts in being an authentic Marseille soap maker. When in doubt, look out for this logo as a sign of authenticity!

The ancestral cauldrons saponification process

It takes nearly 10 days to complete the making of the Marseille soap from cauldrons to the finished products, in accordance to the ancestral know-how transmitted by Master soap makers through generations.
